Instant veneers provide an alternative to the lengthier process of filing down the existing tooth before bonding, and instead are just secured directly over the top.
This type of veneer application is usually significantly quicker and causes less discomfort, but it is not a viable option for all patients, and particularly not for those who have very poor original teeth. Vero Dental Spa will be able to advise you whether traditional porcelain or instant veneers are the best choice for your requirements.
Looking After Your Veneers
You may find that you have some sensitivity to extreme temperatures for anything up to a week after your veneers are attached. This is due to the removal of the enamel that was required in order to fit them successfully.
Generally, approximately 7 days after your procedure your doctor or a member of his Vero Dental Spa team will see you for a follow-up appointment, where he/she will be able to assess how well the veneers are placed and are functioning for you.
Although veneers are relatively strong, they still require proper care and attention. You should ensure that you continue with a thorough oral hygiene routine including brushing with a non-abrasive toothpaste especially formulated for use on veneers, flossing, and mouthwash. The porcelain is rather brittle so you should avoid activities such as chewing/biting your fingernails or opening beer bottles with your teeth as this could cause irreparable damage to the veneers. If you regularly clench or grind your teeth, it will likely be suggested to provide you with a bite guard to protect your veneers from damage.
