The Dentist Indian River Shores Residents Recommend to Each Other
Indian River Shores is a small town by design. With roughly 4,400 residents spread across John’s Island, Windsor, Orchid Island, and the older shore neighborhoods in between, word travels fast, especially when it comes to who you trust with your smile. Most new patients who walk through our door at Vero Dental Spa didn’t find us through an advertisement. They heard a name at the club, at a dinner table, or from a neighbor who finally stopped avoiding the dentist. That name is usually Dr. Jonothan Royal.

Twenty-Seven + Years of Doing the Work Himself
Dr. Royal has practiced dentistry in this region for more than 27 years, and in that time he has built his reputation less on marketing than on outcomes his patients can see and feel. He holds Diplomate status with the International Dental Implant Association, a distinction that requires more than 350 hours of implant coursework, 75 documented surgical cases with full clinical records, a written and oral exam, and letters of recommendation from current Diplomates- not a weekend course or a wall plaque. He’s also certified in IV sedation, which matters more than people expect once a “quick cleaning” turns into a conversation about implants, a full-arch restoration, or a root canal they have been putting off for a decade or more.
He completes two to three times the continuing education Florida requires of him every year, not because a board is checking, but because implant dentistry and cosmetic technique keep changing, and he would rather stay ahead of the changes than catch up later on someone’s case. He holds professional affiliations with the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, Spear Education, the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and Digital Smile Design- five different lenses on the same set of teeth.
What Indian River Shores Patients Come to Us For
Every practice says it offers comprehensive care. Here is what that actually means at Vero Dental Spa, broken down by the reasons patients from Indian River Shores most often call us.-
Dental Implants, Handled Start to Finish by One Doctor
Dr. Royal places and restores dental implants himself, from the surgical appointment through the final crown, rather than sending the surgical portion to one office and the restoration to another. He offers single-tooth implants, mini implants for patients with reduced bone density, implant-supported dentures, and full-arch options of All-on-4 and All-on-6. For patients who don’t want to wear a temporary appliance while healing, Teeth Next Day allows a fixed prosthesis to be placed the same day as surgery.
Implant cost in the Vero Beach area typically runs $3,000 to $8,000 per implant depending on bone grafting needs and the restoration chosen. Every implant consultation at Vero Dental Spa is complimentary, so you know the full scope and cost before committing to anything.

Sedation for Patients Who Have Been Avoiding the Chair
A large share of the sedation conversations we have are with patients who have not seen a dentist in years, often because of one bad experience decades ago. We offer three levels, matched to the person and the procedure rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.
- Nitrous oxide. A light, fast-acting relaxant delivered through a nose mask. You stay awake and alert, and the effect wears off within minutes of removing the mask, so you can drive yourself home.
- Oral conscious sedation. A pill taken about an hour before your appointment that brings on a considerably deeper state of relaxation. Most patients recall very little of the visit afterward. You will need someone to drive you.
- IV sedation. Medication delivered directly into the bloodstream for complex surgical cases or significant dental phobia. Patients are typically on the edge of unconsciousness and remember little to nothing of the procedure. Dr. Royal is personally certified to administer it, and vital signs are monitored throughout.

Cosmetic Dentistry Finished to Hold Up Under Close Inspection
Porcelain veneers, thin custom shells bonded to the front of the tooth, run $800 to $2,000 per tooth and are used to correct chips, gaps, discoloration, and uneven edges without altering the whole tooth structure.
Porcelain crowns in the same price range restore teeth that have lost too much structure for a filling while still looking like natural enamel.
Professional whitening, priced from $300 to $600, lifts most patients several shades in a single visit, well beyond what an over-the-counter kit can do. When a patient wants more than one change at once, we build a smile makeover that combines whitening, veneers, crowns, and bonding into a single coordinated plan rather than treating each concern separately.Prices vary by practice. Contact Vero Dental Spa for your treatment estimate.

General and Restorative Care
Not every visit is a big case. Routine cleanings and exams, tooth-colored composite fillings, and laser treatment for gum disease and bleeding gums make up the everyday work of the practice. Root canal therapy is handled with modern techniques that bear little resemblance to its reputation, and TMJ therapy addresses jaw pain and clenching that has often gone untreated for years. When an extraction is unavoidable, sedation options are available for that appointment as well.
What Patients Say About Vero Dental Spa
- “Dr. Royal is by far the gentlest dentist I ever had! I hate needles, and he made it easy and virtually painless!”
- “From the moment you walk in the door, you are put at ease.” Patients consistently describe the staff as pleasant and professional, and the visit itself as calmer than they expected.
